Product Description

Generic Ceclor CD contains Cefaclor as active ingredient- a cephalosporine antibiotic of 2nd generation. This type of antibiotics is similar to penicillines.

Common use.

Generic Ceclor CD is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic infections caused by mircroorganisms sensible to cefaclor, which can be treated by oral therapy:

  1. respiratory tract infections:
    1. superinfected acute bronchitis
    2. exacerbated chronic bronchitis
    3. pneumonia
  2. ENT infections:
    1. otitis media (infection of the ear)
    2. pharyngitis
    3. tonsilitis
    4. sinusitis
  3. kidney and urinary tract infections with the exception of prostatitis
  4. skin and soft tissues infection

Administration and dosage.

Follow thoroughly your prescription label.

The usual recommended dose for adults and elder people are as follows:

  1. in pharyngitis, tonsilitis, bronchitis, inferior urinary tract, skin and soft tissues the dose is 375mg of Generic Ceclor CD twice a day, during 5-10 days
  2. for the treatment of severe infections (pneumonia) are indicated higher doses- 750mg twice a day
  3. in infections caused by S.pyogenes, the duration of the treatment should be of at least 10 days.

Elder patients with a normal renal function do not require adjustement of the dose.

The pills should not be cut, broken or chewed.

Children are recommended to be administered other pharmaceutical forms of cefaclor.  

It is recommended to ingest Generic Ceclor CD during meal times for a better absorption.

Precautions and warnings.

Due to insufficient studies pregnant women should not administer Ceclor CD.

Small quantities of Generic Ceclor CD were found in mother’s milk. Therefore, women should either stop breastfeeding or choose another medication. A healthcare professional will provide further instructions.

Driving and machinery use: the drug has no influence on these capacities.


Please do not administer Ceclor if any of the conditions below make reference to you:

  1. you are allergic to cefaclor or other cephalosporines antibiotics
  2. you are allergic to any other component of the drug
  3. you have kidney disorders
  4. if you had digestive disorders, especially colitis
  5. if you have severe persistent diarrhea. In such cases the treatment with Ceclor CD should be interrupted

Side effects.

The possible adverse reactions are:

  1. diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, candidiasis
  2. itching, urticaria
  3. skin eruptions, joint pain and inflammation with or without fever
  4. positive Coombs test

Drug interaction.

It is important to let your doctor know about all the drugs you are taking at the present time. You should mention even those administered recently or which you intend to take in the nearest future Generic Ceclor CD interacts with:

  1. other antibiotics, like erythromycin, tetracycline
  2. blood thinners
  3. antacids
  4. preobenecide- used for the treatment of gout

Missed dose.

Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember about it and then continue as scheduled.


If you took more pills than you should have had, you must stop the treatment and go to the nearest hospital. The symptoms of an overdose are: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, convulsions.
