Product Description

Generic Cefaclor is a beta-lactamic antibiotic belonging to the group of cephalosporines. The active ingredient is Cefaclor.

Common use.

Cefaclor helps the body to fight against infections by destroying bacteria causing them. This antibiotic is indicated for the treatment of infections produced by sensible microorganisms such as:

  1. ENT infections: tonsilitis, otitis media, sinusitis
  2. bronchial-pulmonary infections: acute bronchitis or aggravated chronic bronchitis, pneumonia
  3. urinary tract infections: cistitis, pyelonephritis
  4. skin and soft tissues infections: abscesses, phlegms, pyoderma

Before beginning the treatment with Cefaclor it is recommended to perform tests for determining the etiology of the infection and the sensibility of strains to cefaclor.

Administration and dosage.

Your physician will establish the correct dosage and duration of treatment resulting from your health conditions and etiology of the infection. Consequently, you should just follow your prescription label.

Generic Cefaclor is administered orally.

For adults and elder people: the usual dose is 250mg of Cefaclor every 8 hours. For more severe infections or for those caused by less sensible microorganisms, this dose may be doubled. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4g/day.

For children: the recommended dose is 20mg of cefaclor/kg divided into 8 hours intervals. Nonetheless, it is preferable to use cefaclor in a different pharmaceutical form, like for example in suspension.
