Product Description

Generic Lincocin is an active bacteriostatic antibiotic. The active substance is Lincomycin.

Common use.

Generic Lincocin is used in the treatment of the following infections caused by sensible strains like streptococcus, pneumococcus, staphylococcus or anaerob bacteria:

  1. superior respiratory pathways:
    1. pharyngitis
    2. tonsilitis
    3. otitis media
    4. sinusitis
    5. scarlatina
    6. as adjuvant therapy in diphtheria
  2. inferior respiratory pathways, including acute bronchitis and pneumonia
  3. skin and soft tissues infections:
    1. cellulitis
    2. furunculosis
    3. abscesses
    4. impetigo
    5. acne
    6. mastitis
  4. bones and joint infections, including osteomyelitis and septic arthritis
  5. septicemia and endocarditis

Administration and dosage.

You should always administer your medications as indicated in your prescription label.

The usual recommended dosage for adults is 500mg three times a day (each 8 hours). This dose may be adjusted, depending on the severity of the infection.

For children the recommended dosage is 30mg/kg/day divided into 3 or 4 equal intakes.

If patients have severe renal dysfunction, the prescribed dose for them should equal 25-30% from the recommended dose for patients with normal kidney function.

Precautions and warnings.

During the therapy with Lincocin users could experience colitis, sometimes a severe one. If you have diarrhea with fever and severe abdominal pain, please see immediately your doctor.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Taking any kind of medicine during these periods will be only done with doctor’s permission and only if mother’s potential benefits will exceed baby’s potential risks. Lincomycin passes into mother’s milk, therefore breastfeeding is contraindicated during the treatment.

Driving and machinery use: if you feel bad after the administration of Generic Lincocin, you must not perform activities involving attention and respsonsibility.


Generic Lincocin is not suitable for administration in the cases below:

  1. allergy to lincomycin or to some other component of Lincocin
  2. hypersensitivity to other antibiotics
  3. kidney and liver dysfunction
  4. pregnancy and breastfeeding

Side effects.

As in the case of all the drugs, the administration of Generic Lincocin may cause the appearance of some side effects, such as:

  1. diarrhea, abdominal pain
  2. nausea and vomiting
  3. stomatitis
  4. vaginal and anal itching
  5. skin eruptions
  6. leucopenia
  7. thrombocytopenia

Drug interaction.

It is mandatory to inform your doctor about the medications you are taking, including those sold over the counter, herbal products and topical drugs.

If you are under one of the following drugs, please mention them to your treating doctor:

  1. novobiocin
  2. kanamycin
  3. blood thinners
  4. oral contraceptives
  5. any other antibiotic
  6. diuretics

Missed dose.

It is not advisable to skip your doses of antibiotics. They are effective only when taken systematically. Nonetheless, if it still happened that you missed a dose, take it at your earliest convenience. You must not take a double dose.


If you took more Generic Lincocin than you should have had, you could have nausea or be vomiting. You must seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
